Grief Support

Grief is a very normal and human response to loss. We recognize that each person who loses a loved one responds and grieves in unique ways.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Your grief journey will be as individual as you are, and our highly qualified staff are available to offer support and companionship as you move through your grief.

Who Can Access Grief Support Services?

We offer grief support to anyone who has experienced the death of a loved one; whether they have accessed our Hospice services or not.

Capital Caring Health service options include: individual short-term grief support, community-based grief support groups, workshops, Services of Remembrance, grief camps for children, and so much more.

Each region that we serve has specific options that can be found on our quarterly calendars that are listed above.

Individual Grief Support

Individual and family grief support offers an opportunity to confidentially share your thoughts and feelings related to your loss. Counselors can help you think through any changes you may need to make and find a new way to a new life that includes remembering the person who has died, in the way that you want.

Every loss is a very personal experience and no two people experience loss in the same way. Many people find that it helps to talk with someone who is not part of their family or close circle of friends.

Sometimes people find that at first they do not want support but then later change their mind. If this happens to you, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are always willing to help.

Who Would You See for Individual Support?

Our grief counseling professionals bring a diverse range of educational and work experience backgrounds to the table. Many are Licensed Clinical Social Workers or Pastoral Counselors.

Every Capital Caring Health Grief Counselor is carefully selected and follow a comprehensive training program, which includes learning about grief and the effect that loss can have on our lives.

How Long Can I Access Individual Support?

We offer short-term grief support services that are focused on the individualized needs that you have related to the death of your loved one. The Grief Counselor will initially meet with you for about an hour to ensure that our services are right for you.

Sometimes individuals might require other therapeutic support that is outside of the scope of Capital Caring Health Grief Support. At the conclusion of this first meeting, you and the counselor will decide the frequency of sessions, or whether an external referral would be more beneficial.

How Much Do Grief Services Cost?

Capital Caring Health Grief Support services are offered at no charge. It is possible to offer grief support free of charge to everyone who needs it due to the generosity of many community partners and countless individuals who have benefited from our services.

We gratefully accept donations so that we can continue to offer these vital grief support services to anyone in need. If you’re interested in helping us continue our mission of helping those in need, please donate to Capital Caring Health today. Every donation, large or small, helps to make a difference
