Stefano Arfè

I did my Bachelor and my Master in “Medical Biotechnologies” at the University of Naples “Federico II”, during which I got fascinated by life science world, in particular studying stem cells. After my graduation, I did an internship abroad at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona (ES), where I had my first contact with the incredible and emerging world of epigenetics.
I got really involved on this topic and, for this reason, I am pursuing my PhD at the Institut Curie in Paris (FR), under the supervision of prof. Geneviève Almouzni. Working in the EpiSystem network represents a great opportunity to broaden my knowledge of epigenetic modifications in stem cells and to develop my scientific expertise. I really enjoy working as a part of a big team and I think that cooperation between different people that share common passions is the key to success for science.Since I was a child, I have always had a curious mind and I have experienced that this is my passion: to pioneer, to understand and to create something helpful for human health.
Music I listen: from Oasis to EDM, from Italian music to progressive rock!
Books I read: I like comics and fantasy books, especially the Game of Thrones series
How do I spend my spare time? Play volleyball/football (I am a SSC Napoli proud supporter)
Why am I in science? Fascinated by pictures illustrated in science books collected in my grandpa’s library
How do I start my day? Huge cup of espresso coffee!
